Your're wise to be patient, Stew. I hope things turn out well.

Maybe the fella will have an opportunity to take it to court, but who needs the hassle? You're far better off to ensure that a vehicle has clear title before proceeding.
Yikes. 8O

Yeah, better safe than sorry says I. The fella seems really genuine and all, but kind of risky to give someone a bike and $1200 for something that could get repossessed. Thats another nice thing about the china bikes... You never have to worry about liens on them!

Swap is supposed to be this Friday as the seller and I both have the day off. I talked to him on Sunday night and he said that he phoned the finance company last Friday and they had the payment, it just hadn't been processed yet. I'm hoping to hear back from him tonight or tomorrow. 4 days should be plenty of time for them to apply the payment I think. Lol, don't you just love waiting?

I suggest you meet up at where ever they transfer titles in your area to make the swap. I think it would save some money on tax since you are trading. Also if someone forgets to cross an I or dot a T, you can fix it easily and be on your way.

Best of luck to ya!

Stew, will the current owner be able to provide proof that the finance company no longer has an interest in the bike? Something that the current owner didn't fabricate on a PC?

I am not sure how it works in Canada, but here in GA the finance company will usually overnight the title with a signed lien release.

The tag office will recognize that and assign the title in the new owners name.

That is one sweet KLR! WAY nicer that mine!

I've been riding mine daily for just over a year now I think. I call it my tractor, but it has a lot of potential. Older style 2002. I kind of beat it up a bit cause its my warm up for a BMW F800GS or maybe a KTM690 Enduro.
If I had that KLR, I would likely postpone the one of those beast bikes.
Oh, they pull deer out of the bush pretty good too.

Still haven't heard from the fellow, but the finance company is supposed to fax him the title clearance when they process the payment. Really hoping it all goes through and I can get it on Friday... I have been ogling the KLR's for a very long time now and this is as close as I have ever gotten to actually owning one.

So long Shadow... :(

Helloooooo KLR!

Lol, I love it! I can wick the throttle in third and spray rocks everywhere. I got the Kawasaki gel seat with it as well, might try both seats and see which one I like best. I can easily flat foot it with the current set up. Makes backing it up easy

Congrats! Nice looking toy stable! Wonder what you'll end up riding more? The Konker or the Kawi?

Congratulations, Stew; the KLR looks great!

Perhaps it is just me, but I thought I detected a sullen, jealous demeanor from the Konker.
