Did the tape trick work on the fronk forks?

It appears so. I've ridden it several hours pretty hard since the tape trick and no sign of a leak. I have new seals on the way for when it does leak I can replace them.

Doc, please consider doing a tutorial when you change the fork seals. You've done it many times, and I'm sure you can make it look easy.

I think I did a turorial when I changed them in the Yamaha XS400 last April or so. They are not too hard, but messy and it helps if you have the right tools. Snap ring pliers (inner style), a good prybar, Allen wrenches on 3/8 sockets, long reach is sometimes necessary, and an air (or electric I suppose) impact wrench. That is not always needed but usually very helpful.

If you can't find my tutorial, or if I didn't do one, I'll post it. Also check out Dansmc.com online course. That's where I learned!

I plan to do a writeup, with photos, when I change the fork oil, fork seals, and dust wipers on my Zong. I'll be ordering the fork seals in the next few days.

Of course, you have to use different methods for inverted forks; Brother Dan supplies information for conventional forks on his wonderful website.

Driving the fork seals on an inverted, cartridge fork requires a different technique.

You need to assemble the forks, and employ a seal driver, instead of driving the seals with a socket.

Great videos. I only skimmed them. Looks like a more involved process for sure. Doable though. You may need some special tools it seems.
