Trying to wire pitbike headlight to Gio X33

Not sure if anyone is familiar with the stator on this bike but I need a bit of help.. I picked up a pitbike headlight from fasttrails.com and everything seems to be going together as planned, except I need to find the two wires coming off the stator for power...

There are 6 wires coming out, 5 of which were going into a 6 wire plug with one empty slot. Black with red (cdi power?), Blue with white(Ignition?), Green (cdi ground?), and 2 yellow wires that arent being used. the one loose wire is a green with red.

not sure what I should do next.. I actually tried 2 of the 3 wires in various combinations with the white and yellow going to the new harness but could not get any light..

from what I gather the 2 yellow wires coming from the stator SHOULD be for the lighting...

would it matter which one goes where or should they work reversed?

All I can offer is that I've heard Hooper Imports has some good wiring diagrams for Lifanoid engines. Might be worth a look.

yeah I looked there too... I'm pretty sure my two yellow wires are the ones.

I checked them at idle and have 25v AC between them, does this sound right?

I rechecked all my connections and found a nice spot to ground and sanded off the paint.

still No lights :(

--edit, at least I wired the kill switch right --

The best way to check is with a volt meter to see what you are getting out of those 2 yellow wires, since there is no rectifier it should be AC coming out of there. I thought i read a post somewhere on here that there is only 6V coming out of the stator for lighting, can't say how much current it actually produces, personally i'm surprized that there would even be a coil for lighting on the stator when these dirt bikes have no use for it......well unless you want to put a headlight on it.

thx for the link. that sort of confirms my AC voltage figures. I checked the red wire coming out of the kit rectifier and got nothing so I think the rectifier might be bad..

I just unplugged the plug off the rectifier and jumped the red to 12v batt and green to negative and light works great...

I'm now pretty sure the rectifier is just bad...

for the record.. called fast trails and their sending me a rectifier.

Seems like a good place to deal with.

OK, so I've tried a new rectifier and still nothing.

Traced the wires from the stator going to the rectifier for continuity and they are good and so it the ground wire going to the rectifier.

There isn't much left that could go wrong except maybe if the plug going into the rectifier is not wired right...? Here is something I noticed, when the rectifier is plugged in my voltage figures coming out of the stator are only showing 6-7v AC. but when it's unplugged from the rectifier I get 25-55v AC coming out..

Is that normal?

Figured it out.... everything was wired fine all along. Rectifier was good.

problem is my stator is putting out VERY low amps. Voltage is showing correct but no amps to back it up.

Voltage diminishes as soon as you try to power anything, it will barely light an LED bulb.


Anybody know if it's a big job to install a new stator on a Lifan 140?

i havent done it but ive done some research. it would be harder to repalce a clutch and a clutch would be a cake walk to replace..

just remove the side cover opposite of the clutch and you will see what needs to be done..

also search youtube for stator replacement and it should pull up some videos of people doing it.

Do your best to mark where the stator is positioned, so that the new one can be placed in exactly the same spot.

The flywheel pullers are available at most motorcycle shops. Just get the one the fits the xr50.

Don't try it without one. It is cheaper to buy the tool then risk damage to parts.
