The sound is good. Not too loud. It is a lttle deeper sound.
If you don't like it just have somebody weld back over the hole and paint it.
I had a Lifan GY5. I moved the carb clip one spot towards the pointy end.
It is posted on the site how to do that. Not too hard.
And you may need to adjust the fuel mixture screw out (counter-clockwise while looking at the head of the screw) a quarter to half turn.

You will know if it affected the mixture if you start feeling dead zones or the engine hiccuping at certain rpm's or throttle movements.

Here is a picture of where the screw is at the front bottom of the Lifan carb.
