Brake line failure

I messed up and failed to notice that my front brake line was rubbing on the wheel. :(

By the time I noticed it the damage was done, I was too late.

The rubber hose has chaffed through.

I went down to the dealer where I bought the bike, but of course, I forgot that they are closed on Mondays. So off to the Yamaha dealer I went. They didn't want to talk to me about my china bike, Heck the service there is so poor they didn't want to talk to me even before they found out what I was riding.

Anyway. I called Goodridge and they helped me build a brake line kit. I have all the part numbers to make a 41 inch Stainless Steel brake line if anyone else needs them. Its' gonna cost about $60.00.

Before I order the parts, I am going to call my dealer tomorrow and see if he has a replacement in stock.

Here is a pic followed by links to bigger pics.

i have a feeling that those brake lines are going to vastly improve the braking.. my front brake feels sloppy and spongy.. i've re-bled the brakes, but i think its mainly just from owning sport bikes for the last few years, im used to the stiff front brakes that stop on a dime...

Not good! On are bike the brake line runs thrue a sping . and yes that long of a brake line will cause some spongey feel, a braded line should fix.

Hehe you guys have no clue about bad brakes. My rail has 1965 vintage drum brakes that you have to pump to stop. Might have something to do with the leaky slave cylinders dripping fluid on the pads as well. They do fade a bit after they initially grab......Naa I think it's the paper-thin drums I'm too cheap to replace.

the front (40") and rear (28") shipped. Not to bad. I have

Thanks I'm easy,

thats a good price. I hope they arn't to short, since my current line is 42". I think with careful routing it would work.

Since my bike has a drum rear brake I would only need the front, so it's only $28, yea for me

Yeah I have the drum rear brake too. I plan to replace the front
line once funds are available. Let me know if this works out.

yea yea.. sing it from the rooftops, one instance where the drum wins! ;-)

i think the 40" line will work. I attempted measuring mine, its about 41-42" as you said, as long as it was routed carefully, it should work. Plus since they are braided steel, it should be pretty sturdy...

lemme know how it goes, im thinking about doing it on mine and getting rid of that stupid "thing" that no-one really knows what it does...

I went ahead and ordered the line Imeasy found for us. i will let you guys know how it works out. With pics of course.

I called the shop whear I bought it and they didn't have any in stock so I told them I was just going to get this one from Scooterparts4less and they asked me to wait and they would try to get the same part and pice match if they couldn't beat the price.

Well I waited all day and they never called me back. so that is one more day of waiting and one less riding.
