There are many C.A.R.B. certified dirt bikes out there, but only for green stickers, not on-road. www.ls-motorsports.com claim their Diamo is C.A.R.B. legal for street riding, but a Diamo is pretty much a Zongshen, and are fairly expensive. As far as C.A.R.B. legal/green sticker is concerned, Jetmoto, Lifan, Viva, and a few others claim to be...and 'liverchip' just bought a strictly off-road TMS Shineray 200 dirt bike that is green stickered for Calif.
Hi All,
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I called the place where liverchip purchased his because I wanted the TMS200 he has. The sales person indicated that they are no longer C.A.R.B certified and only for sale out of the sate of California. If you read their ad closely on eBay it say’s no California sales. I looked high and low for a C.A.R.B Lifan with no luck at all. If you ride out here without a green sticker the tree hugging Nazi’s will give you life in prison. If you accidentally run over and murder a Kangaroo Rat you get the death penalty.

They still have it on their website as being CARB legal. Guess they have yet to change that.

You ain't lying there. All my equipment is stickered. Although 2 are red. I have yet to have them actually check out at Stoddard. Can't get away with it as easily at Mirage, although I have done it. The rangers(Kangaroo Rat Nazi's) went right by without saying a word. They're REALLY strict out Big Bear.

We got our two vivas from the same place and had them shipped to hawaii back at christmas time. We now have about 1500km on our bikes both street riding and of road riding on lava and sand and rocks. We both weight about 240lbs and no problems to speak of, just lots of fun.

A few of the companies are based in Cal., but that is strictly an import place, not for local use...kinda like a tease! :?

My 06 Jetmoto 200GY is C.A.R.B. approved. I got it plated for the street, but it wasn't easy. Jumped through a lot of hoops for the DMV and made numerous trips to the local office. But they did finally give me a plate and tag. I think that persistance pays off.

Mostly in the Sierras around Auberry and Shaver Lake, Jose basin and San Joauquin River Gourge. 80% street and 20% trail. Didn't get much riding in last year because I broke my right ankle after going down on my Suzuki. But I do plan on hitting it hard this year.

I think you were one of the lucky few Californians with a street legal Jetmoto. But Jetmoto is CARB legal for a green sticker, and is another brand to consider for off-road bikes in California. (Plus, the headquarters are in San Francisco, and Jetmoto has a few of their own shops for parts)

I think that someone should take the angle of kit cars. I know that there are a certain amount of kit cars that California will allow to be tagged for the street. Dmitri, from jetmoto had once mentioned that the bikes were essentially kits, too, so as their engines are certified, then a certain amount of them should be allowed to be registered as street bikes. (IMO)

As far as other brands that are CARB legal; Diamo, according to their site, claim their enduro to be street-legal in all 50 states. i am not sure if anyone has contacted them, or tried to register one in California lately, but that is what is said on their site (and their site doesn't appear to be misleading like some of the Ebay sites). It could be true?!

United Motors, or UM, also are supposed to be California street legal with their enduro and super motard, too, and there are now a few dealers in Cali. You won't find one of the UM's for $1000 shipped to your home (and Diamos are not cheap, either), but at least they are (apparently) registerable for the street.

Diamo is www.ls-motorsports.com

UM is www.umamerica.com

this is from Diamo's site:

"IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL 2006 MODELS SATISFY EPA/DOT/CARB REQUIREMENTS FOR STREET USE. "
