hello there!

I found this site while searching for info on Lifans. I was pretty stoked to find a site dedicated to China bikes. At times it seems like this site runs really slow, tho. Is it just me or do other experience this as well?

About me? Well, I'm a bit of a car nut. Have been all my life. Love to drive and love to tinker and work on things. I've never messed with motorcycles before, but I'd like to start.

Anyways, I am interested in buying a Lifan... I've been searching for dealers in Texas that are both cheap and reliable. I've found a couple online, but when I google their names I find that a lot of people have had bad experiences with the dealers. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm also curious about what is required to title these bikes. Anyone done that in Texas?

There are a few members from Texas here. Hopefully, they can steer you in the right direction.

If you ever want to explore the Appalachians, let my know, and I could probably get a ride going.

Welcome aboard, Brother,

Welcome. Lifan makes pretty fair bikes. Don't discount the other makes though...
Site runs fairly speedy for me...

From what I've been reading the Lifan seems to offer the best bang for your buck, but I'm not married to that idea. Any recommendations on what makes and models are good and not so good are very welcome. I want a sport style bike, but haven't completely ruled out the enduros yet. I would prefer a two cylinder, but thumpers have their own charm. Price is a big motivator...

Yeah, apparently this site only runs slow at work. Takes along time to fully load. Runs just fine at home, tho. It's very odd since we have an oc3 at work, lol...

Speed also depends on the number of concurrent users. An OC3 line is super fat but probably also supports hundreds (thousands?) of users. You at a University?

More users = less bandwidth per user. I won't even get into routing. The server is on the East Coast (ie. more hops).

<=== network engineer

Don't let me get started on routing. I'll geek out and put you all off The OC3 supports about 150 people plus a some of our backbone traffic. We have a couple OC3's, but Internet traffic only goes out one. Site seems to be running just fine from work now, too. It was probably IT dicking with the FW... Since this isn't an "approved" site it would be in bad taste to ask them about it .

I'm in Austin. As far as dealers in the area go I've found Scooter Revolution (they were not helpful at all) and Austin Motorsports (haven't check them out yet, but plan to this afternoon). I know there are more dealers around, but haven't found them yet...

For those that might care, I just got back from talking with Sina at Austin Motorsport. We chatted for quite awhile about the scooters he had on the floor and other things (like bikes) he could order. His prices on the 150cc scoots are decent, but he's about $1000 over priced on the 250cc ones. Not sure why they are so much more, but he was willing to talk about the prices. The interesting thing he said to me was that if I wanted to order a bike or scooter online (in order to under cut him, lol..) he would do all the dealer prep for it for $150. Probably not something I would partake in becuase I enjoy turning a wrench, but that was different from what I've heard from other places at least. He also showed me a few scoots that they had cannibalized for parts to make sure the ones on the floor were fully functional and he said he had no problem selling parts.

I'm going to go back on payday and see how far he's willing to negotiate. I would love to buy locally, but depending on the price I may not. I still need to decided what I want, tho. I'm leaning more to getting a scooter over a bike now, but for some reason scooter are way more expensive. I find that really aggravating...
