The CDIs have not really be proven to help.
I would suggest changing to a 42T rear sprocket. It sounds like you may need to also check you sparkplug and carb settings. I don't think you are getting full engine potential from the stock parts. Also may sure you tires are aired up and the brakes are not dragging. Barack may send you a tire gauge.  Allen

I did the carb-clip mod...all the way down. Now my bike runs rich...the plug is always pretty black. I really don't want to mess with the clip again, the bike runs so much better now. Would going to a pod-filter instead of the stock air-box lean it out a bit and possibly give me a bit more power? Also, do you really think going from a 46 to a 42 sproket help all that much? Bruce (EJC) said all he has in stock is the 42. Or would you guys suggest a 40 or even a 38? Can anyone give me a link to sprokets that will fit my 'bird?

I think that the running rich is slowing you down alot. Work on getting the carb set.
My bike ran great with the clip set to the second notch from the pointed end in stock form. A pod filter will help some, but I don't know if that will be enough. The too rich condition is probably what is hurting your top speed. Also a 38-40T sprocket might be too much for your bike to pull with someome your size. The 42T seems to be a could balance. Allen

I found that yes a couple teeth does make a difference. But with a 17-46 (as kato said) your bike should be a little faster. 65mph??? With a smaller sprocket your bike has to work a little harder to get up to speed. With a smaller sprocket, you will want to have your bike running as good as you can get it to run, or the bike will have trouble getting up to speed.

Maybe your float height is too high? Needle to high? A freer air filter will help. Help enough??????? I don't know. When you get the motor running snappy, 65, grab yourself a 42 tooth and then see if you can get near 70mph. But you might loose a little going up large hills.
