kpx250 just arrived

So I will be starting to put it together tomorrow, so far an awesome looking bike. My question is how long do these batteries typically last and does anybody carry along a portable jump starter for emergencies? This is the first bike I've owned that doesn't have a kickstarter. Also can it be push started in like 2nd or third gear (although I can't see my older body doing it, just curious). As far as the jump starter I was thinking about possibly running wires from the battery to the exterior of the bike with some sort of plug to hook the jumper to if the battery does die. Just a thought.

Living in a warm climate like Florida you shouldn't have any problem with the battery. As long as you have some power in the battery you could bump start the bike. If you know the bike will sit for weeks at a time you could get a battery tender and hook a permanent plug to the battery. You could use that same plug to hook your jump pack.

Thanks Jerry I was thinking the same thing. I have the charger coming tomorrow and was wondering if the same plug would work for the jumper also. I don't know if any jumpers come with the same plug as the charger, if not I can fabricate one.

I've had my KPX for 3.5 months and 2150 miles in summer and winter weather and I've never had an issue with starting. I have one of these USB power ports installed that I can unplug and connect a battery tender to if needed and the voltage has always read in the normal range.

I have a USB cellphone charger on my TBR7, that has a quick disconnect. Weird thing was I was forgetting to disconnect it if I didn't ride the bike for a while. I know this is a personal issue, but when I added a USB cellphone charger to my Boom Vader, I got one with a switch this time.

Cool thing it has a lighted voltage read out too, so I can notice when I forget to turn off the switch sooner.

So not leaving on items to drain the battery was a help, but my trickle chargers have kept my batteries alive.

FYI, 3rd year with TBR7, and 2nd Year with Boom Vader, both still with stock batteries.
