I still don't get that, mine's not bouncy at all and I don't even have the damping turned all the way up.

You could play with the pressure in the shock using a high pressure shock pump and regular old air. Find a pressure that works well, drain it of air, and then have any place with nitrogen fill it to that pressure if you so desire. Or just keep using air.

I am actually planning on checking and adjusting mine today to see what effect it has. I am hoping with more pressure it makes the damping adjustment a bit wider in terms of clicks. only having 3 options - soft and slightly wollowy, rock hard, and medium but controlled doesn't leave any real room for fine tuning.

So since I had the bike apart for carburetor related things (more in my adventures thread if interested) I decided to hook up my pump to the shock.

I know for sure that about 40psi is too low for most of these guys, so I have set it at 100psi. So far it is holding and a bouncy test shows that the rebound damping has definitely improved a little. The firmest setting is almost TOO firm. 1 down is what the firmest used to be, 2 down is comfy, 3 down is now the "off road" setting, and 4 down starts to get a little "boingy" again, so it did have a small effect on the damping levels. The adjustment ranges are still rather wide, but it definitely did help some.

I think length might be the issue with those. Unless they make a shorter one for a different bike, the KTM shocks are about 16 inches long.

Have you priced KTM parts? Love the bikes but nothing on them is cheap.

Those shocks can be found used, for a good price.

Smile New rear shock

Hey guys just checking in recently picked up a 2018 Hawk 250 I am 5’5 160lbs and tip toe on the ground. After doing some research on this post and others relating to rear shocks I figured ide get a new rear shock to lower the bike and I would lower the front forks 1 inch.

Here is the rear shock I am going to be ordering “TDPRO 295mm 11.6" Rear Shock Absorber https://www.amazon.com/TDPRO-295mm-S...C173&sr=8-1“ i saw a bunch of comments of it working well on a hawk 250. I wanted to ask y’all if this plan would work well and how yours are keeping up after doing this mod?

295mm shock on a Hawk works out just fine, even without lowering the front at all. My bike has a 280mm Fast Ace shock with a Brozz Swing arm (has a higher mount on the swing arm) so it sits at about the same height as a Hawk with a 295mm shock. Pictures in the first post here. https://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=23546

The Brozz factory shock is actually 295mm long (Good affordable option for a bolt in upgrade to lower a Hawk btw). $45 plus shipping. Part 13. https://shop.brozz250.com/eshopprod_...Suspension.htm
