New Rider, BIG question

Hey guys,
My name is Warren and I'm 18 and live in CA. I have been interested in the Hawk 250 carbureted for a while now. I have been searching craigslist for a while for good deals on used bikes and have come down to the final big question. Should I buy a new Hawk 250 (under 2000) or try to find a used bike.
I'm thinking of buying a new Hawk 250... but let me know your thoughts. Sorry to those who read this twice, I originally posted in the wrong thread.
Thanks

Just remember that the Hawk is not street legal in CA. It will have to be for off road only.

If I (a Floridian) drive my Hawk to Cali, with Florida plates, Im still legal right? I would assume so, but I never know.

I'm not from CA but think you will be okay.

Yes. You are still legal if you do that. The laws of one state affect the vehicles that are registered within their state. Except the DOT laws I believe, which govern all vehicles on a given state’s road.

Just think of the example of inspection stickers. Some states require an inspection. Others do not. If you drive your vehicle from a state that does not require an inspection into a state that does require one, those don’t apply to you because your vehicle is not registered in that state that you drove to.

Same thing for the motorcycle.
