which would you do first and why?

so, got my bike (2007 roketa/shineray db07a, 200cc CG motor) back on the road, pretty well stock in the performance area, other than de-catted and an FMF powercore "silencer"...

i see a lot of people talking about the cams, the 4 degree advance keys, and PWK carbs... oh and head porting, not sure i am quite ready to do that yet though...

which one(s) do you all think would net the best gains on top end (holding speed on hills) or possibly increase the top end a bit?

bike is supermoto'd with 520 chain setup, 13/38 sprockets, the 38 is the smallest i can get short of custom made for a ninja wheel, and i doubt a 14 front will fit, the 13 is really tight as it is.

i am currently running the stock non limited cdi, but i have a blue "performance" cdi that i can try too...

Head porting and 4 degree timing key. The porting alone made a huge difference on my Hawk and X22R. I haven't installed the timing Key on my Hawk or my Ghost yet but did on the X22R. Performance improvement across the rpm Range.

I second the head porting and in my experience shifts the peak torque output higher up the rpm range providing more power at a higher rpm and thus better sustained speed on hills.

I think if you didn’t want to mess with removing the head just yet and you already have a better flowing exhaust then I would go for a good carb. I really like the PZ30b pumper carb

So, heres a fun snippet of fact... the cheapo blue aluminum body CDI actually does something... i have had one zip tied to the frame as a "just in case" solution should the stock cdi die on me... for giggles i plugged that one in today, and the same hils i was loosing speed on i am now holding pretty well steady.... so they do work... downside, theres a 50-50 shot it will try and backfire when cold starting...but it makes a difference for sure... also bike seemed to run a bit cooler as well, averaged 280°F where it used to ride right at 300°F or even a bit hotter on a hot day... temp was taken with a bolt on probe to the spark plug and wired to the Trailtech Vector Dash

Inexpensive Minkuni vm26 carb, jets, fuel/air extension screw, sprockets 33 rear 13 front/100 link 520 chain/ and tensioner, exhaust, better foot pegs, better shifter, rear shock, quality hand guards, off road tires if taking it off road.

All of the above is totals in the area of $400 to $500 with some budget shopping but you will have higher quality components and the bike serve you better and feel better.

After done with that list, you have upgraded it at minimal cost to the best it can be on a budget bike. Ride it and enjoy it.
