Question Apollo DB36 250 first ride?

I just put together my Apollo DB-36 250, took it around my block at low rpms and when I came back parked it and shut it off it released pressure from the engine and blew off this little red rubber cap! Does anyone know what could have happened??

For some reason its not letting me post my pic. But it kinda looks like the rubber cap that came on my battery. My neighbor said if it’s running fine I really shouldn’t worry but he’s also not a mechanic lol! And yes it does run good but only on half choke♂️

Picture files has to be less than 196kb in order to post. For some reason the files don't automatically reduce anymore. If you have to run it on half choke then you will need to install a larger jet. Stock the carbs come tune real lean.

Awesome thank you! After you said that I did some research and a lot of people have just gotten a whole new carburetor because of the jetting problem. I keep seeing mikuni, is this a good upgrade? Or are there better ones?

Nothing wrong with the stock carb. I think most people just don't want to take the effort to slot the 3 taper proof screws on the bowl. It only takes a minute or two to slot them with a hacksaw or Dremel. There is no performance upgrade with the Mikuni.

Head Scratching

I think the stock carb sucks not because of having to cut the tamper proof screws but because it uses this odd cold start pilot jet that no one has other than aliexpress and I’m still waiting after maybe 3 week’s and using that site has been horrible for me although the vm26 mikuni clone from eBay came promptly from China and I was able to order genuine jets for it. I also think in the case of the Brozz 250 it should come with a carb where they have the parts available necessary for tuning at that price point but it comes with the same carb as the cheaper bikes

You could watch this comparison for some smaller dirt bikes - a lot of people seem to choose the slightly larger versions of the two mentioned in the video for these 250s. (Vm26) or Pe28 or pe30. I don’t really know at what point you would see better performance out of a bigger carb unless you did a number of other mods.

My feeling for myself is to use a carb same size as stock just make sure it can be tuned well and the parts are accessible- the mikuni vm26 clone is popular because it’s around 30 bucks and uses normal mikuni jets that you get from a lot of places. There are also a lot of sources of information on tuning them too so it should be easier for someone if they never did it before.
