Tbr7 help finding knobby tires & correct tube

So after riding my tbr7 on a 12 mile trail ride the other day I’ve come to the conclusion I need a more aggressive set of tires...not that I got stuck anywhere but they are Just more street oriented then I need them to be I’ve found a good rear tire size is 130/80-17 “motoz tractioner” I believe it was called that I’m gonna run from now on it’s still dot street legal but it’s far more aggressive so I don’t have to worry about the Rocky Mountain trails tearing up the street style tires and leaving me with a flat somewhere very inconvenient....I’m having some issues finding a front tire though the stock size is 90/90-19 anyone have any suggestions I can’t come across anything that’s a knobby style....also having a little issue picking tire tubes I believe they’re a tr6 style tube?!? Could be wrong so any help with picking up the correct tubes and a more aggressive front tire would be greatly appreciated

I came to the same conclusion on tires on my first ride in a field across the street. The stock tires got stuck on about a 15 degree sandy incline. I've got a trail wing on back and d606 on front. I stayed with dot tires since I have to get it inspected, but next time I'll get some real knobbys for soft/medium terrain.

I’m In that same boat I gotta keep it “legal” for inspection but these tires definitely cause me a whole bunch of unnecessary effort up mountain trails I just checked out the rear tire your running I found it in 4.60 x 17 which looks like the right size...pretty similar as far as the aggressive tread to the one I’m ordering for the rear....I really am having allot of trouble finding a front tire that’s a 19” knobby...looks like I’m gonna have to find a 21” front wheel like the hawks have to satisfy my knobby needs....as far as the rear tube do you remember what one did you go with...I believe I need a tr6 style valve stem 2.00-2.50 tube but I could be wrong....thanks for the help other then swapping to a digital cluster and changing my hand controls over to a aftermarket set with a lower profile master so my throttle cable has some room to roll far enough forward I’ve done just about all the mods/adjustments I want to make the bike suit my needs

I think I bought a shinko sr241 or sr244 for my 19" front. It was super cheap and light and worked pretty good. It was pretty smooth on the street too.

Definitely gonna check those front tires out thanks brother! now I just need to make sure I order the correct tubes for them lol...I seen on your signature you swapped your hand controls...what levers did you use? I couldn’t find any that would work with the tbr7 stock perches....genuinely thought the hawk style bike used the same levers...everyone said they didn’t fit so I ordered new perches and levers from mzs that used a slightly lower profile master cylinder....I searched around YouTube as well as the forum and couldn’t find anything about lever compatibility well I also can’t find what Inner tubes I’m supposed to be using either so that’s a little strange maybe I’m not using the search bar right or something since everyone says the stock tubes are super cheap/bad quality but I can’t find anyone who says they replaced them with this or that exact one!

I've HEARD that the thin poor quality tube issue has largely been addressed by the manufacturer, at least on the Hawk. I don't know that to be a fact. I've not swapped mine nor do I plan to right off.


I 2nd a look at the Shinko's I ran a set on my DRZ back in teh day and you can't beat them for the money. Not sure what all sizes they offer these days, but it's worth a look.


Also - we used to call those Trail wing tires - Death wings out in the woods and wet stuff. LOL

Figured it wouldn’t be hard to find a post somewhere on the forums or YouTube with someone saying they have a tbr7 and used the x for the front & rear lol information is so plentiful for these machines I didn’t think this would be a hard one...for the front I’m going with a 100/90-19 kenda k760 as it’s dot street legal and aggressive then the rear I settled on a 130/80-17 motoz tractionator h/t since again it’s aggressive but street legal...guess I’m ordering tr6 style tubes since I think they’re the ones I need and if not using my stock tubes

I've heard the same "death wing" thing , but 17" rears we dont get as many good dot choices, and the d606 rear was just too big and tall, it kept hitting my airbox.

I came to the exact same conclusions in my research. I am also a TBR7 owner.

There is only 4.18 inches of room between the forks. The 100/90-19 is 3.94 inches. This is about as wide as I could find for this size for a true front tire.

I have yet to purchase but came down to these in my research:

Are you certain that the 100/90-19 Kenda k760 can be used as a front tire? That tread does not appear so.

I have the tractionator rear and it is awesome. Well worth it. And I have no issues going 70mph on the street either.
I'm actually running a michelin ac10 in the front because I couldn't find the tractionator in my size in stock anywhere. Don't be afraid to mix and match.

Honestly no I’m not 100% sure about the kenda for a front tire...I just know size wise it will fit and has the knobby tread I’m looking for...also found a Michelin and a few others In the same size so I’m gonna look into it to see...for the rear I definitely have had good experience with the tractioner before so I was happy to find it in a size I can use

Definitely appreciate the tune style as well! I genuinely thought I needed a tr6 good to know it’s the tr4! Also found a guy using the kenda as a front for his xr200 I believe it was said it tracks great so looks like I got my tire combo I was looking for put together...all in all 250 for both front & rear tires tubes and new rim strips isn’t bad in my opinion especially since I’m getting the traction in the mountain trails/rocks I’m looking for while remaining DOT street legal

Appreciate the link, Though they appear to be a nice knobby tire...they’re not a brand I know of and not sure if they are officially DOT compliant
