Tao 125 replacement Card

Just purchased a cheap used TaoTao 125 cc ATV for my son to play on...it needs a new carburetor (no surprise)...does anyone have a suggestion as a replacement carb that may increase performance?? also, do these normally have an air filter attached to the carb? mine did not and I am assuming this was a missing part. thanks for any help you can provide.

search amazon for "PZ20" they are about 10-15 bucks. If you need the air filter, many times you can find a package for under $20 that has the filter included.

Be advised it's likely not completely plug/play. You most likely will need to adjust the idle and mix screws. There's plenty of posts on how to adjust them.

More "be advised"...
I just put an Amazon PZ20 on a '125' atv (actually 120cc stamped on head)
I hoped it would solve 'bogging' but nope. Once setup, it starts & idles fine but if you whack the throttle... it's hopeless. Total Bog... often stalls. Sure, you can ease into the throttle and at WOT it runs great. But what fun is that?!?
The pilot jet needs to be upsized, to solve the Bog...
FWIW...
the Main is #80 the Pilot is #34
I drilled the main to #100 and it ran like crap.
I can't do anything with the pilot (drill set on it's way...)
(I don't have jets available for the PZ type carbs)
You can't adjust the Bog out with the airscrew. you need a #36 or #38 pilot (even bigger?) to fix that.
Once set as best as possible... choke it 1/2way and whack it again. It 'will' respond way better. But you can't run like this... it's too crappy all around. (i just proves that the pilot jet is too lean, since choke forces a general over-rich condition)
The PZ20 I got has an adjustable needle! I only tried lifting the needle 1 click, with no real change. (i had to abandon at this point) Try lifting the needle fully and see if that helps...)
Good luck!

My 125d's run perfect with an 80main and a 34pilot. Needle in the center position.
