Brozz 250 Dual-Sport -> ADV

Just wanted to share this with anyone who may have considered doing the same thing to their dual-sport. Here is my Brozz 250 that I've essentially turned into a mini-ADV.

The accessory bar is custom made (as is the new engine guard I have yet to mount). Let me know if anyone has questions about it.

Very nice! I like the bar mount, definitely useful in a touring/adv bike. I setup a cell mount on mine connected to the bars and then a usb-c line that i tuck under the front of the tank when not in use and has worked well for me, but so far my rides havent been very long, maybe 60-80 miles round-trip was the longest..
I see that you have a 39T rear sprocket.. in sure thats great for cruising fast and even highway riding but curious if it has significantly neutered the performance of the bike. I had swapped the stock 46T rear for a 42 and rode it like that for awhile but even with the performance mods i felt like it took the snappiness away so i swapped my front to a 16T which effectively winds up being like having a 17T/44.5TR combo and im liking it better like this, nice snappy pickup even in 5th gear.. previously 5th gear would take a hit especially when climbing highway hills

This is exactly what I plan to do with mine. Do you have any videos of all of your accessories and mods?

I did something close a few years ago with a Hawk. The Brozz looks great by the way!

Looks good. I just purchased that same tail bag. I like the your wind screen. Did you have to do anything special to mount it. And can you provide a link.

Thanks,
John

idle purr ~ sorry no. I didn't think about making instr. videos, but I can walk you through each thing I did. Just give me a list of the things you want me to explain.

Pathfinders ~ Thanks!

JohnC ~
I bolted my fog lights & windscreen to the 10mm bolt that holds the top of the headlight housing to the forks (it is a perfect fit). As for the brackets, I had to bend them slightly, & instead of using the 4 bolts to mount it, I used only 2, so I could tuck the screen behind the dash a bit more for better wind-push resistance (**Edit** As confirmation this works, I've ridden over 500 mi. with it this way, on several 3-4 hr rides, averaging 55-65 mph, with a 15-20 mph headwind... & the screen didn't even vibrate). I used red threadlocker on the bolts to make sure riding vibration didn't work them out; I have a ton of that red-locker, because I removed each frame &/or critical bolt on the bike to threadlock it (on purchase) ~ incl. the axle bolts, suspension, & brakes.
HERE is the windscreen.

tknj99 ~ I think I remember there being a slight drop in Acc when I first did the swap, but since I gutted the CAT & exh. shortly after, I don't recall how much it dropped. Despite the wider gears (& RPM range) now, I haven't noticed any diff in the Acc from stock.

FYI, I gained about 1k RPM range in each gear. Check the stats yourself HERE. It's a pretty close calc.

Thanks.. nifty site for sure
I ran the calculations and see this:
Stock max speed (17/46): 60
Previous max speed (17/42): 65.7
Current max speed (16/42): 61.8

I figured id lose a few mph on top and can live with 4 mph drop with the gain in acceleration across all gears. And then if i ever need to, can easily swap the 17T front back on i guess if i plan to do any long distance travel.

Hey TK, did you have to take links off your chain when you did either of those sprocket mods? Or did the 128 link still fit?

When i installed the 42TR i found that with the 128 link it would work but the indicator was almost at the last mark so i took 1 link out and it brought it to the 3rd mark i believe.

When i dropped recently to the 16TF i tightened up and am i believe at the 2nd mark now.

Looks real good, makes me want to go with the Brozz over other option.

Demo ~ Yeah. I debated the Hawk & this bike REAL hard. When it came down to it, having the skid plate, more mod flexibility (e.g. no computer to dupe), & a reinforced (incl. all Grade-8) bolts / hardware beat the Hawk's EFI.... now... if the Brozz had EFI, that'd be freakin' amazing (minus the mod complications).

Here's a close up of that acc bar, TK

And HERE is a list of my mods, gear, etc., & the links to all of it. Lemme know if you guys have any install questions (e.g. custom mods). I'll be updating this list as things change.

Yeah, I spent the past month researching these off shore bikes. It's gonna be a Brozz unless I can talk myself into stepping up to a KLR300 which is like 3 times the cost.
