Twist Throttle Conversion Help

Hello. Wondering if anyone has done a twist throttle conversion on a Bull 200? I bought one on Amazon that I thought would work but the cable won’t ft the bull carb. I need one with barrel ends on both ends.

I bought a 1/4 turn throttle and it came with a longer cable/shorter sheath than my other cables. When I tried using any other cables they didn't have enough adjustment to work. Is that why yours doesn't work?

Thanks for the response. Looks like originally it cut my post off. I need a cable with barrel ends on both ends but I also think it won

In the old days every motorcycle shop had the parts to make custom cables, but not now. I make my own, usually out of bicycle shift or brake cables. Surely there is a YouTube video on how to do it. Pretty easy.

Thanks. I’m sure that’s the route I will have to go. Started looking into it last night. Will look for some videos on it.

You might look for a cable from an FCR carbed bike or quad. Most dirt bikes and quads (ktms, hondas for sure) used them from mid 90s through 2010 or so. I'm sure there slots of other bikes that use that style of cable, I'm just familiar with the ktms and hondas.

Cable end

look on youtube for ... how to make cable ends.. or cable repairs.. it shows how to melt lead and make a ball cable end.. with a block of wood and drill a hole.. you can always get a cable that is longer and then put the end on... if you know how long you need... go to sites on tell will tell you how long... lots on ebay as well...

Since those are scooter engines I imagine a 150cc china scooter cable would work since they have the same carb and a twist throttle.

Working on soldering up my own. Should work good. Ended up cutting it too short today. Another cable on the way. Take two this weekend.

The Race Driven cable i listed above is too short so i will be removing about 2" of the cable housing then it should work.

I've ran twist throttles on a couple atvs with mixed results. They are great for control on the quad, but cause issues "off quad". Lol

Let me explain... I had it on a little 200sx honda. When I'd get stuck on a hill or something and I'd get off to push or guide the bike while hanging onto the throttle it would try to kill me. Picture standing next to it giving it throttle and the quad gets traction... the throttle would open up because its sliding out of my hand. Then the back tire runs over my leg. Of course then the throttle slips out of my hand and the rolls back off my let and the foot peg wipes out my shin. Of course I'm able to grab the throttle again and the whole show starts over again. Lol

You guys could try a Handy Throttle;
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I ordered one and will be here tomorrow. I've been using my Rhino for plowing and my thumb's getting sore. 2ZL has a review here;

I'll chime in after install and use.

Ended up making one by soldering one end up. Hopefully it will hold. Gonna toss the old one in my trail bag just in case. Need a new battery tomorrow then I will give it a try.

Well, I got it installed and was extremely happy until today. The inner sleeve cracked and broke in two places. I believe it had to do with the extreme cold we've been experiencing here in Michigan. I'm going to go out tomorrow to see if I can find something to replace it in the plumbing section of Menards. I do have a piece of black pipe that I think I can get to work but I'm hoping I can find something made out of a sturdier plastic. It'll be easier to work with. I'll probably end up going to a true throttle eventually as it's so much easier on the thumb.

As a side note; I think the plastic would have lasted in a less extreme environment.
