Dong Fang for dual-sport/scooter?

Hey, y'all!

It's been a loooong while, but I'm back with some questions for ya.

I'm getting the itch to get another China bike (or scooter) to mod out and have some fun with.

Hi to my old friends!

I don't ride very much anymore (only the Suzy and the Kymco in the garage). I never had a dual-sport and I was thinking of getting a Dong Fang DF250RTE (https://mopedmoto.com/products/mondo...BwE) ....sorry for the links...I can't seem to post a pic.

Then I saw this scooter of theirs:
https://www.belmontebikes.com/produc...f-street-legal

I was kind of thinking of a Honda Ruckus when I saw Dong Fang's scooter which looks GREAT! Of course, a 150cc gy6 with extra go-fast mods would go in.

I could go with either...but I'm really digging that scooter!

So, anyone have any experience with Dong Fang? Getting it registered? I'm not too worried about working on it...will be loc-tited the second I get it. Plus, turning-wrenches is fun for me.

I guess I just want to make sure the quality is there so no frame issues or worrying about it completely falling apart.

Your words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome back. I own two Dongfang bikes from Venom Motorsports. These are solid bikes. The manufacturer actually done great job on assembling these bikes. Every pivot point, bearing are well greased. Mine came with AGM batteries. Bolts were tight with locktite. Quality is much better than my Hawk for sure.

Thanks for the response, JerryHawk250.

I'm just doing some fact finding right now. Most likely I will get rid of the Suzy before I make a move. Hopefully soon, then I will decide which one I want.

I always like the look of the bikes DF puts out...sooooo....

Anyone else have something to add?

Taotao copied the Maddog and offered a lower cost scooter a few years back. I was so tempted to buy a bunch of the 50cc Tao versions and move to Las Vegas to start a rental business, lol. Nevada has since changed their scooter laws where one now needs a license. So did Arizona. My other 'fantasy' retirement/semi-retirement location, Hawaii, has also changed the laws, I believe. Interesting that Canada and UK allow one to ride 49.Xcc scooters with a minimum of car driver's licenses, but here in the US we are moving away from that. I just saw something that one of the cities in the Miami area is essentially stopping scooter rentals--they won't allow any new rental agencies to set up shop, and won't even allow 24 hour rentals or multi-day rentals.

Hey, all.

Yeah..I do like the Maddog Gen 4, I just really like the Dong Fang. I contacted them directly to find out where it was being sold in AZ and they said it was an old scooter and no longer manufactured. I'm still waiting for them to answer why it's still on their website as available.

Oh, well...

Probably from all those start-ups that were renting electrical versions and allowing customers to leave them where ever they wanted.
