Head porting question
I've gotten a replacement head from Pearce motorsports and pulled the valves in prep, is it worth pulling the valve guides out as well?

No, you shouldn't have to pull the guides unless you want to replace them.

I was also thinking about skimming the head to raise the CR, but looking at the proximity of the intake port to the deck, I'm not sure if this is possible. I measured the deck to the underside of the fun and it was .07in, common wisdom is to take .04in off. Does this look right?

I'm certainly no expert on this but I'm preparing to do this as well once my head arrives. All the research I've seen suggests that 1mm (.040") is common on these motors. It should yield a CR of 10.3:1.
If you can post your progress it would be much appreciated. I'm looking forward to doing this to my TBR7. |
