Oh Snap

Last Friday i was riding back from work, ready to start my vacations.
While i was riding i felt that something hit my ankle and it was somewhat heavy...

To my surprise the swinarm axle bolt snapped and the thing that hit me was part of that bolt....

I guess someone at the assembly line overtorqued the poor bolt....

It's the same part as the CG 150 "TITAN" so for just 2 usd i got a replacement.

The swingarm goblin strikes again. I'm not sure if their over-torqued or under-torqued. Theres no real torque spec for this bolt, except to remove all the side play in the assembly. I'm curious if their not actually tight enough and frame squeeze or flex pops the head off. They all seem to break the exact same way.

When mine broke I used the CSC part, which is threaded on both ends.

By any chance did you measure the bolt diameter?
First they sold me one that had a diameter of 15mm, then they gave one for the Honda Titan which was 14mm.

Assuming it's still there same for the CG125 as these, the spec is 35-50nM.

Well, what bike do you specifically have? I have a Hawk.

My original swingarm bolt measured M14x1.5x260mm.

I used the CSC part which is M14x1.5x276mm.

14mm should be correct. I went through a whole mess with this, including front and rear axles. Rear wheel bearings are 15mm I.D. riding on a 14mm O.D. bolt, so don't sweat the slop too much.

Heres my swingarm bolt thread: http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=24615

And heres my thread on wheel bearings where I address the axle: http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=24675

The seller is "Zanella" but is a Lifan made motorcycle and now we have something in common the bolt that snapped was M14x1.5x260mm

Funny thing the newer models that "Zanella" is now selling have the M14x1.5x276mm that is threaded on both ends.

So i can make a guess that the bolt that is threaded on both ends, is an improved one.

But there is another sell that another hawkesque motorcycle that has a M15 axle bolt. That motorcycle has better ratings than mine...

I had my Hawk bolt snap and discovered it on a pre ride inspection. Replaced it with the CSC one with a nut on both ends.
