Taotao 250 gas tank removal
I have a new to me 2007 Taotao 250 that I'm trying to get up and running. The odd thing is that the bike had barely been run at all. I've replaced the battery and cleaned the carb and actually gotten it to run on fuel I poured into the carb. Now I need to give the tank a good rinsing. Funny thing, this is the hardest thing I've come across so far. I can figure it how to get the dang thing off. I've taken a handful of nuts and bolts of the body to get it off, but I can't seem to get the front part of the main body off. It seems to be stuck under the front panel (in front of the handle bars). Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance, Beardking |

Welcome! My newer one has a cover in the front. There may be more mounting bolts there. Also, look in the front wheel wells for bolts, as well. I think you do have to take the handle bars off.....maybe. You might be able to loosen everything to slide the tank out.
Post some pictures, if you can. Some others here my have your body style and might be able to help.

I have attached the 3 pics below to see if anyone can help me in identifying this beast. 😆
I looked at the sticker on the rear swingarm and it says that it's a 2007 Taotao 250. |

Well, I figured out how to get the tank off (thanks david3921). Basically strip the poor thing down to its skivies.
Now I figured out that I need to get a new petcock for it. There is such a clog of gas boogers in it that I don't think my carb cleaner is ever going to make it through it. |

Thank you. That's pretty much what I was thinking this thing was. Now I just have to wait until my new petcock () comes in so I can get the dang thing running right. Gotta love it when things sit for years without any maintenance. You'd think I'd have enough of that with my Mustang

The atv looks to be in really good shape... doesn't look like it was ridden much.

You are correct in that. My friends step dad bought it brand new and rode it around maybe 5 times. Then he figured out that he wasn't really using it and it was taking up a lot of space in his garage, so he ended up giving it to my friend a few years later. My friend never messed with it at all. Never even got it running and he's been dragging it around with him for the last few years. He got a new job and is moving to the other side of the state and didn't want to move with it again, so he offered it to me. Who am I to say no? This weekend was the first time it's ran in probably 8 years or so.
