Oil cooler Working?

I just installed my oil cooler on my Hawk, i'll post pictures when I get home. But I'm not sure if oil is pumping through it. For one my gut is telling me its not, and for two the oil levels do not appear to go down when I let it run. Maybe I over filled it, but I went on a 30 minute ride yesterday and nothing seemed to happen. I check before, about 15 minutes into the ride, and after. I am going to check the valves and see if there is some oil left over in there. Is there a way I can check/fix this.

Thank You!

Did you verify nothing was plugged? I've seen new oil lines that were.

Do you feel any heat coming off the cooler after riding? If so it is working. If it wasn't working you would of known a few minute of riding because it would of seized up. The oil will not drain back into the base because the pump acts as a check valve.

That's the problem. I'm not feeling heat off the cooler or lines. I don't know how hot it should be, but I'm not feeling any. What about the oil levels not dropping?

Did you fill the cooler before hooking the line up? It may have some air in it. It's not going to get super hot.

Yes, I filled it up before install the best I could. Is there a way to get the air out besides from unhooking it and trying again?

I think you are okay. What was the temperature when you were riding? I know on cold days (50s) my oil temps don't go above 140. In 80 degree weather( yes it has gotten that hot here already) the temps never gotten over 185.

We had a few days in the 70s. I think it was around 67 yesterday. Thank you for the help! I appreciate it.

Pull the valve cover and find the circular hole "film canister size" then pull the plug wire off and crank the starter over for about 20 seconds you should see the oil pump up the hole like it was going into the valve train. If you are in colder weather the lines get hotter then the radiator does till summer time.
