they got me

well i went to mayors court today. they did not care that I had a temporary motorcycle permit when they pulled me over and ticketed me for having an expired drivers license.

they did not want to hear my side of the story

they gave me three choices....1 take it to eastern court (with the implication that they'd hold me)

2 plead guilty

3 plead no contest

I might have gotten a lesser fine for pleading guilty but I pleaded no contest. so the money grubbing craphole of a town of Martins Ferry Ohio can have their 150.00 plus court fee and I hope they choke on it. also..that mayor aint getting my vote!

jerks.

Damn! 8O

That bites....but it could always be worse. At least you had insurance. I spent the night in jail once because I didn't have insurance, and like an idiot, when I left the jail house I went straight to the impound, hopped on my bike and rode home.

And I've been to court and had a judge like yours...where it didn't matter if the cop lied. It didn't matter that I was ticketed for "laying drag" at an intersection that doesn't exist. All that mattered was collecting my money.

Such is life. All we can do is learn and try to keep ourselves out of those situations.

The "no contest" plea is a nice option, if it's the same as it is here....just be sure that is actually what goes on record. I once pled NC for a speeding ticket (I used to stay in trouble  )...only to find out (after I got another speeding ticket) my license had been suspended because the judge put me down as pleading guilty instead of NC, as I had pled. It might not have bothered me as much if the judge had actually told me what he was doing.

Anywho....chalk it up to experience. (And seek the dirt away from the cops and cagers)

I'd think that the problem is that the motorcycle is an add on to the D/L and that was expired

I think it was a Krishna conspiracy, plain and simple! :? How do you think they maintain that lavish palace if the gift shop is closed?

Yeah you can get away with alot more in a car or truck.its like a bike means your a sitting duck for cops & fines  .....funny too considering most motorcycle accidents are caused by drivers of other vehicles..burn the court house down and take the 25 to life in prison, screw the fraggs.....

I plan to write a letter to Santa Claus and recommend that he exclude the Mayor and that Officer from his list.

Isn't there a site called ratemycop.com or something like that in which you can get online and rip the officer? (Or praise them)

In ontario, whatever you do on one licence, affects all licences. The bonus here is that you really have to be drag racing or doing wheelees for the cops to stop a bike, even if you are wearing biker colors riding a hog. Riders are well trained and tested. Cops never gave my chinabike a second look.

Sorry for your woes
I'm always worried I'll forget to turn on my headlight during the day. (The 1 thing they will stop a bike for) $20 ticket.
But my insurance for car would be 100$ and bike $200 MORE, of course that's per year, for 3 years

I don't know. Maybe I'll just edit the Martins Ferry Ohio listing on Wikipedia to make sure everyone knows the cops here are evil. hehe
