Oil dripping from smog pump on TT250

After every ride I notice a little oil dripping from the bottom bolt of the smog pump or whatever you call that ugly device bolted to the right front of the cylinder head. Once I wipe it off it doesn’t drip again until after the next ride.
I haven’t removed the tank yet but just looking up in that area I can’t see anywhere oil could be coming from up there. Also, it looks like new clean oil rather than used black crankcase oil. It’s not coming from the forks and blowing back as they are clean and dry and there is no indication of oil anywhere else.

Is it possible to eliminate all the emissions crap and any other tubes, hoses, wires etc and have a basic, simple motor with just a pod filter and exhaust like the old days ?

Check your air box for oil. That is the PAIR system and it draws air from the air box and pumps it to the exhaust port. If your crankcase breather is pushing oil into the airbox, it might be getting picked up through the PAIR inlet.

Just an idea at least.

As far as removing it, yes you can. Cap off the air fitting on the air box and the other nipple on the intake pipe right after the catb, then make a block off plate for the head.

Dan, I’m assuming this is all sealed and if so, how could it leak ?

I'm with Dan on this. Check your airbox and make sure the oil isn't overfilled. Stand it up straight and see where it is in the sight glass.
Also, never forget to call Gerry at CSC. The dude is a wealth of information.

It is all sealed, from the outside world. The PAIR system and crankcase breather both route to the same air box though.

If it’s all sealed how is oil getting to the outside of the smog pump ?

My air pump didn't live on the bike long enough to gather any info. I'd get on the CSC website and email them or call Gerry. It's most likely nothing big. Did you change the oil? How's the oil level?

Must not be sealed all that well. Oil can seep out of the tiniest of gaps.
