Head Scratching New To scooters and need advice

I recently purchased a 2008 Red Streak 150cc scooter GY6 engine. Had been sitting for a number of years and of course they had left gas in the tank so already have replaced the carb.
Here's my problem no owners manual no service manual to be found (as of yet).
Shop did the work on it but the scooter will not go over 35 mph. The shop had no info on scooters from China and could not go further.
This does not make sense to me. I am sure this scooter should do more than 35. Any ideas?
All info happily accepted.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome aboard. I'm assuming it's a 150cc GY6 engine. Being that it sat up for a while the variable speed clutch may be stuck. You will want to check and see if everything is moving freely.

It's not your exact scooter but this manual should help for the engine portion. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...9r8PwanZCIlUCV

Thank you.
Yes GY6. I did forget to mention the lady I purchased from told me that she could never get it above 35 mph as well. Also would the mileage have anything to do with it. I have been reading some posts that elude to that. It only has 397 miles on it.

It should do more than 35mph. I would check on the clutch. Tons of youtube videos on how to work on and improve the clutch for more speed. It sounds like to me the clutch is not working like it should. It could be something simple like a broken spring or counter weigh may have come loose.

Welcome to the forum. Good to see another scoot rider, as the dual sport and dirt bike riders outnumber us pretty well on this site.

Verify carb slide assembly is rising normally . . rubber diaphragm may be deficient. Resource . . call first as they may have already relocated from Las Vegas to St. George UT.

That manual is quite misleading in/ex .05mm is for 50cc !!!
===
Early 90's ancestor GY6D http://forum.jorsindo.com/thread-2461033-1-1.html said in/ex 0.12mm / Idle@ 1700 rpm.
After compared that 90's shop manual (Although it's in chinese. Google translate app is handy) w/ mid-00's 2V air-cooled Kymco https://absolutelyscooters.net/manua...ice_Manual.pdf http://atvscooterparts.com/service_m...ice-manual.pdf u will know what's the key point to look after them...

You bring up a very good point. Check for vacuum leak too.

Lot of scooter advice, but not just 49cc, either (yours is 49cc, but still)
