You have a problem. Either a bad or missing gasket/O-ring. I have ridden my Hawk in the rain, had it sit outside for an hours long rain storm at work more than once, and I never got so much as a drop of water in my engine.

Check the crank case vent hose for splits or that it is hooked to the air box. My hose was split and I had to replace it.

so what do guys think is the next step? pull the crank case cover off and clean it out as best i can? think it will frag the engine prematurely as is?

You could definitely pull the right cover off and try to clean out as much as you can, but other than that, I would say run a cycle of fresh oil through it for a couple minutes at idle. Before starting it, give it a good couple of cranking sessions with the ignition disconnected and fuel off. Just get that fresh oil circulated before starting.

After that first run, drain it as much as you can, fill it up again and go for a good ride to get everything nice and hot, and that should evaporate any remaining water.

A question I didn't get a chance to ask before because I was at work...

Have you noticed any oil getting out of the engine? It doesn't have to be leaving spots on the ground necessarily, but even a film of oil at any seams in the crank case or around the valve cover? If that much water can get in, then oil should be getting out. If it is a case gasket seal on the top of the case or a bad seal at an O-ring like the valve cover, then there should be at least some smidge of evidence of oil escaping, even if it is just a filmy buildup around the seam in question.

After you do your cleanup efforts on the crank case and fill it with new oil, I would say give the engine a complete wipe down with some sort of degreaser like simple green. Give yourself a clean surface to inspect after you ride it for a while to burn off any remaining moisture. When you get home, poke around and see if you see any oil residue. If you can't see anything, let it cool, then wipe it down with a clean paper towel and see if you pick up any clean oil. This should at least hopefully narrow down exactly where water could be coming in.

dueing those wet days that the water got in the oil what was the humidity like...
It takes very little water to turn a liter of oil whiteish... some oils respond to it more & quicker than others..

Have you checked the air box to see if there is water in it? I know my air box was letting water in were the top and bottom half connect. It also was letting dust in it too. I ran a bead of sealant to seal the two pieces together. Water from the rear wheel could be forcing its way through the joint. If the drain is stopped up on the air box it is possible that it could be condensating and going down the vent tube. If you done a valve adjustment recently check to make sure the gasket was in place. But I think you would of seen some oil leaking.
