Hawk died on me. Need some help.

Hi.
I was running my hawk all night. At some point my muffler backfired really loud and the bike died.
I thought it overheated so I waited for about an hour. When i try to start it,the switch works, the startor turns. Thought it might be the transmission (because after the bike died I had a hard time getting it back to neutral) but when i try to start it in gear it hops, so I'm guessing its good. I changed the spark plug and still nothing. Checked for arch from the spark plug against the engine, no spark. Ordered new ignition coil.

Any ideas at what else might be the culprit? What else can i look?

Usually the CDI unit blows in these Chondas. Also make sure there are no ground of kill switch to CDI box, if you got a multi meter you could measure it for continuity. Also good to check grounds etc around the CDI box/battery not lose? You know basic overlook over the electric components.

I think the most likely culprit is the CDI unit. An intermittant grounding problem can cause the CDI to blow. So, make sure that it is well grounded...ARH

Sup,

Ive changed the spark plug, ignition coil, CDI , and checked the grounds i know about. still no spark. Ill change the voltage regulator next. Not %100 sure thats it but i used a voltage meter and noticed that power gets to the voltage regulator plug but dosnt continue to the ignition coil.

Will let you know how that works out. Also, if you have any other theories let me know, Im running out of precious riding days

When you install the new 'voltage regulator', make SURE IT HAS A PERFECT GROUND...ARH
