mounting holes/brackets cracking/falling off
pfffffttt, damn shoddy welding.
so some of the motor mounts are cracking and one is only held on by the tightness of the screw (will have to take pics later) what options do I have? re-weld? |

The fix I did was to put an oversized washer under the nut and weld the remaining bracket to the oversized washer. Seems to be doing ok now. Not sure why the mounting bracket broke, but my guess is the push rod engine produces more vibes and torque on the frame than the OHC that I have. If you do this, be sure to sheild the tank and carb while you are welding. I had to use an arc weld and stick to get in there and do mine. I did not remove anything from the bike.

I must be a wimp because I wont even think of welding with fuel closer than 15 feet of the project.
