19F this morning. Bike was fun to start (first time this cold since the carb swap) but ran like a champ. Probably my last ride this week as we're due a surprising amount of snow tonight.

Got a little snow last night here too... but we will be in the 50's to just shy of 70F all this week... if the wind* cooperates I will go for several rides this week...

* Wind chill this week has been brutal... was 40 degrees outside... then you get hit with a constant 50 mph wind... that dropped the temps a good deal... then you get on a bike and want to ride at another 30 to 60 mph... that equals a frozen 120lb rider in under 30 minutes time

BTW the WR250 is a very sick and capable machine. Before I found the hawk I was looking for a used one. Then I decided the hawk will be my return to riding bike that will be sent to my NH vacation home once I build it. (Spring 2018) I will get either a KTM or WR (used of course) in 2018 or 2019.

I sort of miss the power up wheelies from my 2 stroke days, I'm hoping the KTM or WR can fill that requirement. I can wheelie on the hawk but not as effortlessly as my old 2 strokes in the 1980s/90's.
I had a yz 490 , wanna talk about wheelie machine . That was one of the small handfuls of bikes that sacred me right up to,the point of selling it .

Any of those 2 strokes (yz, kx and cr) in the 500cc range were just ridiculously powerful. When you cranked the throttle back on those you better be holding on tight!!

The YZ490 is a two stroke. It was one of the most evil engines ever made because the power band was so short. Nothing, nothing and then a wide eyed crap your pants look when the front wheel comes off of the ground. Yamaha should have stayed with the YZ465 back at that time.

That's one of the reasons I'm having so much fun with these little 4 stroke, small displacement units now. I'm WAY beyond needing that kind of power. I'll still blast the Husky up and down the street once in a blue moon and get the front end up for some fun but it's way more of a beast than I am now.

I see KTM and a 2 stoke engine. Which one is it? I will guess that it is a 250 just by the expansion chamber.

the 250 a good bike ..just a bit dead off the bottom..
more suited to more open flatish terrain...
I would have thought 89 hours is dam good...
I was rebuilding my GasGas's at around 50 hours..
was riding A grade enduro back then so they were
getting a beating....
