I'm a current subscriber and I only see the Jan/Feb issue available on-line.

You must have some special access GSC.

Cheers,

Dan K.

Crazy Carl used to be a member here, until he had some ideas to improve the site; Frostbite (the old owner) would have none of it, so Carl Parker founded Mychinamoto.com This was from back when he lived and worked in China. He moved back to the US (Virginia) and got the top job at ADVmoto a few years back. He really does have a soft spot for Chinese bikes. When he lived there, he was loaned a few bikes for evaluation--from Qingqi if I am not mistaken; their enduros with the Suzuki-clone engines (or even OEM engines for Suzuki). Prior to that, when he first moved to China, he had a Jialing 150cc enduro which he rode everywhere, and even made a documentary video of one of his epic rides on it. The last couple years in China, I was sorry to know he was coming back to the US, since he took such fantastic photos of China while riding around on his Qingqi loaners. Earlier issues of ADVmoto used to feature more Chinese bikes.

I had a Yahoo group called 'Jetmotogroup'. This was because I had a Chinese GY200 enduro from a now-defunct company called Jetmoto. We discussed all brands of Chinese enduros (there were quite a few back then, around 2006). Another guy 'Teamcheap' (I think that was his handle--someone mentioned it a few months ago when discussing the history of Chinariders) had a group called 'Lifan GY5 Group' (don't quote me on the exact name) which was primarily for the growing contingent of the Lifan GY-5 200cc enduro owners in the US and Canada--it had quite a cult following. I was a member of this group even though I did not have a Lifan, and so was Frostbite (he had a Lifan GY-5). Frostbite had an idea to start a forum, bounced it around the group, and came up with the name 'Chinariders'. It was a lot easier to use this new fangled forum, and the GY5 group was disbanded soon after Chinariders began. Although I encouraged everyone and anyone to join Chinariders from Jetmotogroup, I figured it didn't hurt to keep my group going and it continued for a few years. Here we are now, 10 years later, and Frostbite had sold or given this to its current owner.

To answer your original question, I don't know many details of Frostbite, per se, other than what I knew of him from the Yahoo groups, and he was fairly active here on several threads. I do consider him coming up with the idea for a forum from 'humble beginnings' quite significant now, seeing at how big Chinariders.net has become, so that is a bit of history.

The article is now available for subscribers digitally. $12 for an annual digital subscription and that allowed me to download all issues back to 2009.

FJ, I just subscribed digitally also and down loaded current issue. How do you down load all the issues back to 09? do you have to do it one at a time or can they all be downloaded at once? Thanks, rj

I logged in at https://www.adventuremotorcycle.com, selected downloads, clicked the year and then next to each issue was a download button. They are PDFs and I saved to a Dropbox folder so I could access from all my devices
