Shimming the needle up with a washer will give the appearance of a too rich main jet, although at full throttle it won't have any effect. It is entirely possible that the stock exhaust system is causing an over rich condition with the 115 main jet. 115 main jet works very well with a free flowing aftermarket exhaust system.

The bike has the aftermarket exhaust, and a K&N filter on the carb. I was using the 115 main jet and it was idling and running extremely poorly. Even when I set the jet to it's highest setting and adjusting it down, to see if the different positions on the jet would help. It just would not run right, and back fire. I put the 100 back in and put the jet back the way it was when I received the carb in the mail. It runs fine again, but it's past 3/4 throttle that it starts to struggle, thus I believe running lean. I really think a 105 or even a 110 might fix it. The 115 did not work for me, it was running way way too rich. The spark plug was black and it was spewing black smoke from the excess fuel, plus it would not idle reliably.

I hope this post was more clear about the situation.

I also made a custom air intake for the K&N, the last owner botched the filter box so I improvised.

I also adjusted the valves to what motocheez had in his video.

I had my local motorcycle shop order me both the 105 and 110, we'll see how it goes. I can't wait to really get on the bike. These bikes are so awesome.

Jet, love the air intake! What metal tube did you use?
BTW, have you done the Shinko 705's yet? I got some shall we say "mixed" reviews on another thread. Odd because for our type of riding, 80% paved and 20% dirt road, these things rate great on Amazon.

I have a pod filter and free flowing exhaust and I was way too rich with a 115. I am at a 110 and still a bit rich. I am going to swap in the 108 I have to see if it works better.

So I guess the moral of this every bike will be slightly different.

I guess so. I have the 30/115 in my Mikuni (FMF TC2 exhaust) at 3000' (Rhino quad) and it's just a bit rich. Not unlivable by any means.

On the Mikuni, 30 was too rich even at 100 feet for me, I didn't get an RPM drop until I completely seated the idle mixture screw.

Thanks bro! I got this one out of california, its an intercooler pipe for a turbo set up. It's 1.65" which is ~45mm, the filter fits snug. I also had to trim the intake hole on the filter housing so it would fit nice. I also picked up some clamps from lowes for the coupler. I haven't gotten my shinko's yet, still got 50% on my knobbies so when those guys are gone, or at least the rear, I'll order them. I've heard good things about the brand from some crotch rocket bros. I'll let you know though! Plus my riding is about that proportion right now, I still haven't been able to explore my area due to working on the bike and issues here and there.

Yeah guys I'll see how the 105 does and either move up or down. We'll see, I'm glad my thread is helping some of y'all!

More upgrades are coming so I'll keep up the posts. Let me know if any of you have questions, if the brains on the site haven't answered you.

Also picked up a new clutch/brake pivot bolt. Its the same as the Kawasaki's 8mm shoulder with a 6mm threading.

Here's where I got it:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191458926873...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

EDIT:

This pivot bolt is somewhat small on the shoulder for the clutch side, this will work perfectly with the brake lever. It still works for the clutch lever, just has a gap, but works.

If you need a clutch pivot bolt, try to find one with a 10mm shoulder and 6mm thread

Anyone recommend a good tail light LED? I was thinking about this one:

or

Who has done the swap and how's the brightness? Thanks

Where can I buy a new tail light assembly? Or a compatible LED tail light w/ license plate bracket? I ruined mine being a hoonigan.

I thought the same thing about the cost of that pipe. I wonder if a radiator hose would work? It is the intake and you could wrap it with heat wrap and still have the pod in the air box. I forgot how much I like to mod things...
