Nevada/Missouri New Guy

Hello.

Just joined up today. I'm a recent retiree in the process of relocating from Northeast Nevada to South Missouri. Currently motorcycle free, I've been looking at lightweights, and find the the SYM Wolf 150cc and Cleveland Motor Werks (?) Ace Delux looking pretty good. Hopefully I can learn a little about the Ace here, at least.

Thanks for letting me join in, it looks like a good place.

Welcome!! I don't know if you are on Facebook, but there is a very active group for the CCW bikes; mainly the Heist, but (for now) all of CCW's bikes use the exact same engine. People are figuring out how to modify the engines, but I do think that speeds up the untimely death of a Chinese based engine pretty quickly.

The SYM Wolf is a Taiwanese manufactured bike, so probably won't give you as many repair issues as a Chinese manufactured bike.

Welcome!

Thanks for signing up. The Sym and the CCW bikes seem like good products; I've only seen the CCW stuff up close.

Thank you all for the welcome. I do have a facebook acount, but am not real competent using that site. I'm going to give it a try and see about locating that CCW group. There are dealers for both SYM and CCW in the Missouri area, so when the relocation is complete, I'll go take a close up look. Until then, it's read, read, and then read a little more.

Tortoise, our neighbor across the road (dirt road) has the community tornado shelter, and we will be adding one with dual access from the basement and outside surface when the new house is built. While there last month, I got to experience my first freezing rain storm, which left 1/4" plus ice sheet over everything, including the snow. Some adjustments to our practices will be needed.

Welcome. Tornado shelters are a must in this area. Neighbors have one. We go there.

I am an hour from Joplin, MO.

Our place is about an hour east of Springfield, in the boonies of Wright County. Heaven for us, off the paved road and away from cities and towns. Lots of wild game, almost no traffic, and solitude in plenty. It's ten miles to the little grocery in Hartville. Terrible cell phone and internet service.

The tornado and ice storm presence are new for us, but precautions will be taken. Thanks for the reinforcement of the care we need to exercise.

Sounds like a terrific place! Is there much for feral pigs in the area? I'd love to try some on the grill one day.

No pigs yet, but the wildlife people say they are moving our way and we will have them in a few years. Until then just deer, turkey and tree squirrels, the last in great numbers. Prairie Branch flow seasonally through the place.
