Taotao ata 125cc will start and rev but will not move

I bought a tao Tao 125cc atv for my daughter for Xmas. when we were in a large field it decided it no longer wants to move. it starts,shifts into forward and reverse,revs when I give it gas, but won't move.

it does not have a belt, only a chain. I drained the oil, and removed the cover,and while exposed it moved.then I put the cover back on, and it won't move again. Then I lifted the back tires and revved it and the tires barely spin.

someone please help, I cannot figure out what is wrong.

Is it fully automatic with centrifugal clutch? If so you need to remove the clutch cover and clean and lube the clutch. Lots of YouTube videos. You have to be careful lubing the clutch as there are parts that need lubed and parts that absolutely don't get lubed. You need to lube the parts that move and slide with centrifugal force but not the mating surfaces that engage the clutch.

if it is a CTV drive I would have a look at the belt and see whats going on there
If the belt is worn I do believe that it will perform very poorly.
also check on you tube for vids on how to adjust the clutch.....hope some of that helps

Is there a screw and jam nut in the middle of the clutch cover?

Yes there is a screw and jam nut . I am a novice so cleaning the clutch may be difficult. I know where it is, but do i open the piece that is round and a little over an inch deep?

Here is a video. Simple clutch adjustment. No special tools needed.

Exactly what I was thinking. Try adjusting the clutch before taking anything apart.

I was even going to point to the same video.
