Grin Hi from Georgia!

Hi Everyone! I'm Tiffany from Georgia and I've just put down my deposit on the CSC RX-3 Cyclone. Spud turned me onto this site and I'm looking forward to meeting some other ChinaRiders!

While I anxiously await the arrival of the RX3, I've got a '93 Yamaha FZR 600 (red, white, and blue "Captain America") that I've used for trackdays and light touring and an '02 Yamaha YZF 600 that I use as my sport touring bike. I'm very excited to get the RX3 so I can finally get into more dual sport riding as my trip to Alaska 2 years ago gave me the bug (I rented a BMW GS650 and rode up to Prudhoe Bay).

Can't wait to ride with some of y'all!
Tiff

Welcome, Tiffany! Thanks for joining us.

Any pics of your Alaskan adventure that you'd care to share?

Welcome, Tiffany. We are glad you joined us.

If you have time, please do post photographs of your trip to Alaska. In fact, we would love to have you start a thread in our Ride Reports Forum.

Thanks Weld and Spud! I'm excited to be a part of the forums here!

My husband and I are still in the process of finishing the Alaska ride report (yep only taken 2 years, sigh), but I'll be glad to post it on the site once we get more completed. I'm leaving in a few weeks to head back up there and plans are to eventually relocate up there (Summer 2016 is the target date). The purchase of the RX3 is specifically for the move to Alaska, but also for lots of shenanigans until then!

As for pics of our trip, though, here are a few teasers!

Taking delivery of the rental bike from Motoquest

The bikes at the Dalton Highway sign (my husband was on his GXSR... on street tires)

The top of Atigun Pass after a blizzard (we were told we would never make it over Atigun)

Deadhorse / Prudhoe Bay!! (minutes prior to me having the only mishap of the entire trip)

Thanks for posting the great photos. We eagerly, but patiently await your completed, Alaska ride report.

Wow, moving to Alaska sounds like a terrific adventure. Will it be for a specific period of time?

As of right now it's undecided on how long we will live there. The husband is not sure if he can handle the cold, so we are just going to give it a test run for a year or two to see how it goes and then make any permanent decisions from there.

I spent a 27 year winter in Edmonton, so I know how he feels. I now enjoy the wet coast of Canada, and I'm not likely to leave. Still, Alaska would be an awesome adventure.

I was raised in Pennsylvania. East Idaho is colder, but very beautiful. Because of the arid climate, we get much less snow here, and I consider that a blessing.

I'm starting a side business that revolves around Alaska tourism, so Alaska is my main focus right now. The cruise ships port in both Vancouver and Seattle, though, so those are also options if we decide not to stay in Alaska. Unfortunately, I've never been to Seattle or BC, so I guess I will need to make a few trips to both to see if the living situation would be more pleasant.

You'll find that it's much easier to remove our snow with a garden hose than a shovel. That is, the very rare snow that we get. Instead, we get rain; lots and lots of rain.

If you don't mind rain, you can virtually ride all year here.

If it wasn't for snow, I'd never get to work on my bike.

And Hello. Good luck in Alaska. I've enjoyed it every time I've been there. I had two chances to move there and the other half shot them both down.
