Need Mower Help

I installed a new B&S Quantum Edge 6.5 engine on my neighbour's mower a few years ago (perhaps five), and it no longer runs well. It struggles to run properly at any engine speed, and the governor is erratic. There is plenty of spark, and so far I've changed the plug, oil, fuel (thinking there could be water in it) and air filter. I also dismantled the carb and cleaned it. No change.

Could it be the gasket that seals the airbox to the carb? I'm pretty sure that's how the primer bulb delivers fuel, but I'm not sure.

Any help is welcome.

It may be that gasket. I just sold a mower that I had to retorque the head bolts. I don't think that is your problem though.

Do you have a parts source that you recommend? There are no small engine shops in my town.

http://www.jackssmallengines.com/

My Dad uses http://www.ereplacementparts.com/

I tend to shop on ebay.

It may be that you need to replace the carb. I also may have some parts in my bin.

Thanks for the links. I'd be shocked if it needs a new carb already. I'll try the gasket first, and see how it runs.

That is likely all it needs. Just an air leak at that point. Those carbs are much easier than the older diaphragm type.
