Luftwaffe nightmare
I wish I had my phone/camera with me but I did not.
I was out for my lunchtime jog and heard the sweet sound of antique warbird engines above me. I look up to see a P51-D 'escorting' a B17 over Richland, Washington. What a wonderful sight and sound! (The airshow is in town this weekend).

That sounds like a great airshow! Are you going? If so, please take lots of photographs and post a thread on your visit!

May i recommend a book?
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Luftwaffe-Eag...item23295b1df7 Walter Schuck is one of the few german fighter pilots still alive, he still visits air shows where he met Joe Peterburs, the P51 pilot who shot him down. Decades after their fight over Germany they're glad to meet each other alive and well, and they became friends. I found the book interesting to read, no nazi-blah-blah, just the situation and the view of the pilots, mostly from his time in Finland flying against the Soviets. |

I have not read that book but I love it's theme.
I read an analagous book a year ago about the friendship between an American Vietnam F4 pilot and the pilot of the Russian Mig he shot down back in the 60's. They are now tightly bonded friends with a deep mutual respect and admiration and do a talking tour together. I feel that this is a tiny representation of what Heaven will be like. Warriors will be brothers as originally intended. The lion and lamb will lie down together. All tears will be erased. Another book, along parallel lines worth reading is The Christmas Truce. Its about a truce/friendship between the British and Germans across No Man's Land in WW I. Nowadays all I have time to read is medicine and the Bible. Some Chinariders too ;-)

Thank you. Very meaningful song. I like Johnny Cash and June Carter. I hope Johnny found peace, I expect he did.
Is Johnny Cash popular in Germany?

Oh yes, he is. Even younger people know him for his "American recordings" from 1994 on.
What a great artist. I wish i would have seen him perform. |

Great song! I am a 'newer' fan of his music from 1998 or so. He even crossed into so-called 'new rock' in the early 2000s. I remember his rendition of the Nine Inch Nail's song.
