Been told I shouldn't ride for a while..

Went to the doc 2day... As I have been getting
pain in my right wrist/forearm for about 3 months..
Seems I have carpal tunnel... need a op to sort it..
Vibration from the XT has been turning my right hand
numb after a 30 mins...

What a bastard...

That stinks, Pete.

Are you going to have the procedure?

bugger indeed. can you reduce the vibration and wear a wristband, one of those leather things u see people wear to give the wrist support? may not work for your wrist or the riding you do...

Carpal Tunnel? May I ask how old you are and how long you've been riding?
I'm on the computer a lot, so its one of the things I'm pretty afraid of is getting carpal tunnel too. How serious is the procedure? :X
best of luck though..

I have been rideing for 35+ years...
The op... theres a nerve that runs though a hole in a bone in the wrist..
the hole closes up and puts pressure on the nerve... the op is to open
up the hole in the bone...

fast Doc.....is that correct?

Sort of. It's not a hole as much as a groove between bones thats bridged with a ligament, and some tendons and the nerve run through this groove. If the tendons swell there is no room to expand and they compress the nerve. Cutting into the ligament bridge, the flexor retininaculum, can fix it.

Doesn't seem like too easy of a operation. Best of luck with it, and hopefully you'll be ridin again soon.

Technically it is simple enough and recovery is fast. Frequently, however, a cortisone injection will give long term relief without surgery.
