Here's what I found the most interesting;

But this is just the first of several
such models that CFMoto
is planning to introduce on the
same 650cc parallel-twin platform.
Later this year follows the
CFMoto 650TR, a full-fairing
tourer with luggage, followed
soon after by a dual-sport bike

Seeing how the 650NK looks (kinda) like the Kawi E6RN and the 'TR' looks not so much like the Ninja as the Concours 14;

I'm thinking that the dual-sport version is going to look like the KLR.

I'm eager to learn more about all these bikes. I hope someone soon reports he has found them for sale.

SUBSCRIBED... sorry i didnt see a way to get an update if some more news comes out on this bike.

Very interesting bike, I would love to see this come to the states. I've been looking for a tourer in this engine size that doesnt cost a gazillion bucks!

I think this is virtually the same bike, that's stirring the pot in UK (as expected):

I read that article.

Their discussion echos ours.

Once a Chinabike reaches a certain pricepoint the economics of the situation lead one towards a used Japanese bike.

With that said the Chinese are definatly moving upscale, and may become more and more of a force in the Western marketplace in the years to mcome.

Message from CF moto today.

Very quick response, no typos, used reasonable english and responded within 30 minutes - there is hope! Here is the email:

Me:
The 650TR is exactly the bike I have been looking for. I have a couple of questions though.

Is it on sale yet? If not when?
Price?
Is it legal for sale in California?
Are there dealers on the west coast? (The dealer locator on the site does not show any on west coast states.)

Please let me know!

CF Moto:
Hello!

Thank you so much for taking the time to contact CFMOTO. We are always happy to help whenever possible. However we regret to inform you that we are wholesale only and do not sell directly to the public. The new 650TR will be here Spring of 2013. It is approved for California. We have no price yet. We do not have any dealers in California yet. We are working on this, diligently!! Please keep checking the website for more information.

Thank you and have a great day!!

I have riden a Hyosung 250 went well , enough power but not heaps
like some 250s... Used ones are dirt cheap here..

when you think about it the Chinese bikes have a harder road
ahead than what the Japs did years ago... In the 60/70 the Jap
bikes were competeing against rubbish to brake into the bike market.
But now the bikes are so good it makes it so much harder to get a
market share for new manifactors..
Remember the "Jap crap" "rice burnners" It's that type of mined
set the chinese are competeing against now..

But it will happen.. take longer than it did for the Jap bikes
to become exsepted... even now in some groups they still arn't...
