Blue Mountain singletrack with Roger!

Roger and I rode in the Washington and Oregon Blue Mountians today .

It was sunny and warm where I live, but in the mountains it was still in the 30's and maybe 40's with scattered snow showers. That's the mountains of the Wild West for you as Brother Spud will attest  !

Not only did we seek the snow line, it sought us!

We had a great ride although it was VERY challenging!

The motoctossers (YZ400 and KX450 were quite out of place in the woods and beat the living crap out of us both. They got it done but oh I wish I had the Dirt Rat!

The trails were wet and muddy and very challenging. My YZ got it done well, but beat me silly. The KX with its violent off idle hit really gave Roger a workout but he did very well.

All singletrack. All tight technical and a lot of it was scary. I fell and rolled down a very steep incline almost into the South Fork of the Walla Walla River 8O .

I was not moving forward but the trail was so narrow (maybe 9 inches) on the ravine that when I hit a rock that stopped the front wheel momentarily and I put my foot down, there was mostly air there . The bike gently laid over as I did a very cool series of reverse sommersaults down the ravine.

How exciting. I'm fine though and no damage to The Beast.

We did not cross this river. In the summer it can be done but not in the spring.

Muddy motocrossers taking a break from busting our butts.

Close to where I biffed.

Just past this little waterfall...

I think you'll all agree beautiful country. :P

Thanks for posting the nice ride report, Doc. Summer arrives late at high elevations.

Despite the tumble, it sounds like a successful recon mission. Glad you're ok.

Beautiful pictures! Good to hear you are ok after your tumble . It's most excellent that you have a cool riding partner to hang with, plus it's much safer to ride singletrack with two people!

Indeed, I'm also glad to hear you're OK, Brother Bill.

Just to let everyone know, I've ridden for 300 miles with FastDoc. He's an excellent rider, and he's tough. A little tumble down the hillside merely added some spice to his ride. :P

Cool pics, looks like a nice area. That 5th picture, looks like a hard spot to get off the bike. 8O
