2011 x31 valve adjustment

I bought a 2011 gio x31 250. It is the overhead cam motor. Has anybody ever done a valve adjustment on this bike? What are the specs?

You can certainly search for XR200R valve adjustment specs and procedure. That will do nicely.

Won't the specs and procedure be different as it is a different motor?

It's a virtual clone of the XR200R. In fact, it's even closer to a CRF230, because it has electric start.

Doesn't really matter, because the engine doesn't know what name is on the outside. It boils down to the same procedure: find TDC on the compression stroke, set the valves to spec and have a nice day. The valve clearance specs you find for an XR200R will be just fine.

btw: That page is in Japanese. Distinguish Sinosphere in their "modern" writing isn't that hard if knows "how" :wink:

That's exactly the procedure for my '96 XR250R, except I don't have the fancy tool; I use small Vise Grips (very gently).

Good to know because I didn't really want to drop 50 bucks on that tool for the amount I would use it.

I had a quick look online for a cheap version of that tool, but haven't found one yet. Maybe Tusk makes one.
