You're welcome. Please take the time to pick up a digital multimeter; it will help us continue these discussions, and they're only about $10 at Harbor Freight any day.

$4 at my harbor freight for a digital one. Extremely useful tool. I bought two.

ok, so i bought a multimeter, and finally got around to checking out the battery. before starting the bike, the volts read 12.4. after firing up and running (just idling, not riding) the volts climbed to about 13.3

Sounds like the battery is in the proper range (12.4v) and the charging system is working (13.3).

It is still possible to have a bad battery. If you can get it to to point where it won't start then check the voltage at the battery, solenoid. and starter.

I have had failed solenoids and sometimes it would work and sometimes not.

The China solenoid that came with The Dirt Rat's new engine was defective brand new. I used an old one which worked fine. It happens.

Based on your original symptom, I'd buy a new battery. They're well priced at Walmart, and they're decent quality (Johnson Controls, IIRC). You could take your battery into a battery shop to have it load tested to remove any doubt.

It could also be the solenoid, and they're cheap enough to buy one on spec.

According to the original symptoms posted I don't think it is the solenoid but you can jump around the solenoid to test.

battery problems

I have had batterys that after riding ( or working ) for a while.. they get hot under a charge.. the plates warp and short out the battery.. and this will not work .. sometimes it is good to bang the battery when you do a load test.. bottom line is if you boost the battery when it is hot (or has been working) and the unit starts.. then the batteryis the problem.. it is hard checking electrical stuff to see what is wrong..

If you cannot do the above tests then buy a new battery that is properly activated.

Hi can you help me i bought new battery and has i was installing it i put the connectors on wrong and now my bike has no power,if its the fuse were can i locate them thanks. :(

Please limit your question to one forum. I responded to your original question in your first post. Thanks!
