I suppose the cable could have been NOS. I think that I may have snagged the cable on something after I had installed it and it was partially pulled out on the bottom for awhile before it failed.

They are pretty cheap. $11. I have found most the parts to be pretty reasonably.

Vintage, 1985. One will appear. Until then I will continue to use what I got. I have put over 300 miles on since the speedo cable broke. Total of about 1200 miles now in just over a month.

Try a product like "fluid film" in there. The tumblers are likely seized from exposure to the elements..... if worst comes to worst a locksmith should be able to fix it.

I never had any keys for it. The previous owner had installed two switches.

If it works the same as my Aero, the switch has 2 functions (just like a China bike), in the key on: the lights are turned on, and the CDI is un-grounded, in the key off: the lights are off, and the CDI is grounded.
My Aero did not come with a key either, but if I recall correctly the switch is a take-apart easy to fix, did you get a ignition (key) switch? Might it be the same as an Aero? (4 terminal plug) It would not surprise me if a China ignition switch would fit (they ripped most everything else off, why not the ignition switch too?) http://www.partsforscooters.com/Key_...ategory=123337 (the Aero one being the same as the lower 4 pin style) |

I checked into those. I think that I could make one work. The deluxe model has another wire for the headlight that signals the popup function.
I found one on ebay for $10 with a key.

Sorry Kato, I've lost track. Do you still have the ignition (without the key)? If so, I wonder what a local locksmith would charge to cut one for you.

The last time I had a key made it was about $60. I can find a replacement for less.
Reveen, It must be that unobtanium scoot you ride. Hopefully the bid stays low on the switch for me. It comes with one key. Getting a key copied is not a problem. Friend got his elite done. Complete with my old trunk and his official North GA plate.
