My xpect did the exact same thing. The wiring harness was getting pinched between the left fork tube and the steerer tube. Just peel off the wire protection and you will probably easily identify...

Not a socket nut but a 14mm hex bit. Other than that, yes, a long extension down the fork tube with the spring removed. For sure this is accurate for MY x-pect.

My x-pect takes a 14mm hex on a long extension to grab it. Very easy if you have the 14mm. Mine came as part of a set from HF.

The manual is pretty useless. You will find the info you need on this forum. My xpect has been a ton of fun, I'm sure you will feel the same. 17T sprocket was, too me, a huge improvement.
