Project Grin Feel.
Project "Grin Feel" (play on Greenfield)
Will be the continuation of the Ragged Bolens yard cart, which was cut short literally and figuratively. The 88 Greenfield is now a project in which I intend to re-power a ride on lawn mower into a Racing mower with a motorcycle engine. The engine has to be 250cc or under with electric start. Homologation reasons primarily. am occasionally searchin online used sales for roached motorcycles for a heart donor. Cg250 again??? maybe wouldn't be so bad have more than 1 vehicle share the same engine type. Can't use the engine from the pooched Xl185 81 bike due to 6v and kick start.. Think I'll be selling that motor. Seeing as my Cg250 XL185 swap is nearing completion (Yes I still have to finish wiring electrics and get road registered) But I really grew to enjoy the restoration and fabrication elements...which Xlsior (the bike's name not mine), has moved beyond. A racing mower is a next level step with my skill set. Don't expect rapid results either (my bike took over a year) So this could be a while...I am not good at doing 1 thing for extended periods of time I sort of organically multitask and flit between jobs. Anyway that's more or less the back story and premise. So far have stripped down the mower to bare chassis and removed all the cutting related hardware and gubbins. then sort of rough slammed it to get get an impression of the end result. The 4 stud rims came with a set of 22" all-terrain tires that I removed to put on my actual grass cutting mower...was cheaper to get the tires with rims fitted than separate, Ebay...go figure? Rack and pinion steering, 25mm/1" keyed solid axle shaft with sprocket and brake caliper kit will will be required for race regulations. Getting ahead of myself but you get the gist if where this is heading now. Last edited by XLsior; 10-24-2021 at 03:40 AM. |
