Riding the Royal Enfiel home
I was blessed to pick up the Enfield on Saturday. Monte flew me into Scappoose, Oregon (about 30 miles west of Portland) and the dealer (Ron) picked me up to look at the Enfield.
It was perfect as described so after a long test ride we made a deal. Ron and Jennifer are Christian and we had a wonderful bond of friendship and trust. We did the deal at their kitchen table with their 6 week old black kitten purring on my lap. The let me ride 2 of their Boss Hoggs they are selling, if you are interested in those please see my other thread. After a thorough going over on the Enfield I set off for home. 300 miles is VERY VERY FAR on an 'antique' 500cc Thumper. I had to take the back roads the whole way to stay off the interstate because I am observing the break in speeds and tried to keep it below 60. It took about 8 hours door to door. I loved every minute. One screw from the headlight bezel vibrated out, along with a few of my dental fillings I think, but other than that the bike arrived home in perfect condition. Only 65 MPG but I expect that will improve once the motor is broken in. Today I rode it with Andy about another 100 miles. He rode my RE for the most part and I rode his 1969 Moto Guzzi. I thought about you guys the whole time. I've been looking forward to sharing with you all.

To my eyes this bike is a beautiful as the Ducati in a different way. Due to the chrome, it's hard to photograph without getting in the picture reflection. With the chrome and polished aluminum waxing will be a pleasurable past time. Ron riding the Enfield. Andy's Guzzi.

I also rode the black one. I just wanted to get a feel for as many as I could to better know what 'normal' means for one of these bikes. I have ridden 4 royal Enfields so far, all C5's, and they all rode the same. Fun!

That's purty. I still have a soft spot for the teal green one, though. That's a sweet Guzzi, too.

Andy's Guzzi is wonderful. It's all original except for the 800cc jugs he put on.
It's funny, we attracted a lot of attention when we stopped. One guy would fawn over his bike, another over minne but both bikes were appreciated a lot. It's fun to interact with people like that.

The teal one I rode at Moto Corsa was a new/demonstrator 2010. It lacked a kickstarter which I consider a minus. Even with an electric start it's cool to have a kicker.

Lovely bike! I think you made the right choice. The Guzzi is in remarkable shape.

I was looking for the update too. The chrome looks better in your pics than it did on the website.

I took very few pics on the ride home. I had so many miles to cover at a fairly slow speed and I had no idea if the headlight was any good so I hardly stopped. I wanted to be home before dark.

I have a couple of trip pics I've been trying to upload, Weld but Photobucket (I hate Photobucket) is giving me fits. May have to wait until I'm back on my home computer.

Wow! Beautiful bikes, and one of them is even yours!! I liked the fact that the Enfield has a slight resemblance in things vibrating off like Chinabike!
