Run a search for "header wrap".
I dont think you could mount an oil cooler without some serious hassle. |

Not sure on the oil cooler. You'd need to tap into the pressure side of the oiling system and I can't envsion what that would even look like on these bikes. After the motor is broke-in, change to a high quality full synthetic oil like Mobil 1 (make sure it is "wet clutch safe") and don't worry about heat issues. If you gotta sit around for extended periods in the high heat, just shut it off.

Our engines are not equipped with an oil pump, it uses splash lubrication. You would have to install an electric oil pump to circulate the oil through the cooler. This is where you would run into problems.

i wouldnt stress about it too much, i ran the pee out of my old honda xr80 like it was my job, i didnt even ever think about cooling issues or even changing oil in it. I just ran that thing hard and put it away wet.
I had that dirtbike for about 5 years and abused it everyday. Probably overheated it numerous times. I would think these lil china bikes can take similar abuse, considering the way they are taken care of over in china.. those people abuse them way worse then we could. haha. |

Here is an interesting note, some of the Lifan horizontal motors have oil cooler connections. http://www.t-motorsports.com/li13oilcoenm.html.

i've been looking around, the 138cc motors for the honda xr50's have a pretty amazing aftermarket on them.
Not to mention that a honda 50 makes about 3 hp, the lifan motor makes 12hp.. i bet that thing flies !!! haha also... i found aftermarket hi lift cams, stroker crankshafts, etc.. i may have to make me a lil pocket rocket 50 with a 138cc motor wedged in there! i still think the oil cooler would be unneccesary, i mean i remember riding my honda ALL day to the point it was toasty hot, and then just hosing the mud off of it right after i was done.. haha.

Note
All of these engines have oil pumps, the transmission gears are the only part that work off of the splash type system. Even the transmission gear shafts have oil pumped through them to lubricate the shaft and where the gear rides on it. The oil cooler would have to be fabricated but one could be made. Honda didn't make any of the 200cc or 250cc engines styled like these with an oil cooler. I hope this helps. Bruce

Once upon a time I had a Honda ATC200X with an aftermarket oil cooler. Would one of these work?

Hi Frostbite
Yes it very likely would as the Honda Dirtbikes, Enduros etc. have almost the same bottom end {cases anyway}. Bruce

I have done the same with old VW motors as well(tap the main gallery). T-Motorsports also has a billet oil cooler for sale for the Lifan motors.
