Hawk with no charge issue

So was riding the other day, and noticed that my bike was dragging to start more and more throughout the day. Ended up wont electric start and have to kick start it everytime. Battery was dead and at 10v by the end of the day. Swapped a new battery in, due to the old one being old and abused due to thieves leaving chopped up ignition on, so figured it was time for a new one anyways. Ended up testing voltage while idling and revving, and getting no difference in voltages. I have went over every possible connection i can find to make sure all of them were connected properly and nothing was frayed. Still not charging. I have tested stator by ohms and get 1.4 on each pin (hopefully I tested this right). When I test the pin where the regulator plugs in I get 16v+ as a rev it. Was hoping to get confirmation that the voltage reg is bad, and if it is. Could I swap a CSC TT250 regulator and stator onto the hawk? I already ordered a hawk voltage regulator as it was $15. Any help, or further information about the CSC swap would be greatly appreciated.

What'd is the voltage at the battery when running around 3000 rpm? If it's charging at 16v, that'll cook a battery in no time. Don't test at the regulator, that's too vague to diagnose, we need voltage at the battery.

12.6 volts at the battery no matter what until it drops as its being used. There is no charging at all to the battery

Yeah, as long as the stator mics out, it's probably the RR.

Yes, you can. In order to swap the stator on to a Hawk you also need to swap the flywheel. You would then need to do a little rewiring as well as swap over to a DC CDI. One member did the conversion here and decided to simply swap over the entire wiring harness from the TT250 too.

In short, it isn't an easy swap, relatively speaking.

So if I were to do the csc swap. I would need flywheel, stator, CDI and wire harness unless I was to rewire stuff? If I did the wire harness swap, would all the electronics be a direct fit? (horn, controls, lights etc.) Also, I don't really know what im looking at, could you provide the flywheel link or part number from csc?

No, the rest of the electrics wouldn't be a direct fit. Lighting would probably be the one exception, but all of the switch gear would take swapping or reworking. It would be a decent amount of work no matter what way you went about it. You don't NEED all of the extra wiring harness if you know how to setup/wire a charging system on a bike. The other half is altering the wiring for the CDI to operate as DC vs. AC.

I would say it's a bit much though. The need for a 300W stator on one of these bikes is the bigger question. My Hawk does just fine with the standard 120 watt 2 phase, and I like the AC CDI capability of not needing a battery to run.

Only wondering due to the parts being much cheaper from CSC and once i do it once itll be eaiser on the mind. Also don't know which company to actually order from if i was to get a stator because ive ordered plastics and many other things from csc with no issues. I have no need for more wattage because it's literally stock electronics and i only plan to go from halos to leds. Ill update once the RR arrives and go from there

The main issue with the TT250 stator is it is a 3phase unit and 93mm in diameter vs the 2 phase 88mm found in the Hawk. Thus it requires a lot more than a simple stator swap unfortunately.

Ended up being the voltage regulator. Swapped a new one and and back up and charging. I also think my old battery is good so kinda wasted money on a new battery but the old was abused so not a horrible thing to have it replaced. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Voltage-Reg...e/170330909834 is the link if anyone needs it

I think I may have a similar issue. My bike is new and only has 30 miles and I can only rider her once on a short trip before the battery is completely dead! I'm not sure what to do.
