Colorado Registration Anyone?

I've looked/searched through the Registration Thread and didn't see any references to Colorado - since I'm getting ready to embark upon my quest for Title/Plates there - was hoping for a head's up on the process and fees encountered (just approx - as I know it varies by county).

Thanks much! By the way I have a Hi-Bird 07 7200GYHB Dual Sport

Since I've been getting some PM Questions on this original POST - I thought I'd give an overview of what I encountered for Registration & Title in Colorado.

Here's what you need for the DMV to Register a new bike in Colorado:
1. Certificate of Origin (basically the Title)
- Front - be sure its accurate & complete VIN, etc.
- Back - be sure the assignment section on the top back is filled out, signed & notarized. This may mean you have to fill in some of the information about you as the purchaser (Dealers typically leave this blank for you to fill in as you'd like)
- Back - be sure the Odometer Disclosure Statement is also complete with printed name & original signature of the Dealer & notarized
2. Bill of Sale - complete w/ signature notarized
3. Proof of Insurance
4. Vin Verification - they need someone to be sure the VIN on the actual bike and the paperwork match-up - this cost me $10 at a local Chevy Service Center - see the link to my other post for more details.
5. Check book
- Depending upon whether you paid sales tax with the purchase (local vs. out-of-state), if you didn't, you'll have to pay the tax rate within your county for the purchase. 7.4% in El Paso County
- License & Registration Fees - not much on a motorcycle ~$30
6. Colorado Drivers License - I didn't have my Motorcycle endorsement yet, but they didn't seem to care - they just wanted a valid CO Drivers License.

As long as you have all the above (and a couple hours to spare waiting at the DMV) - you'll walk away with Plates and a New Colorado Title - you're all set![/b]
