Hi, txpowersports screwed me and I was sent here to avoid this in the future

I bought a TaoTao tbr7 from TX powersports because I did zero research outside of clicking on a Facebook ad. I just wanted a shitty little bike to throw around in the National Forest on the weekends. Paid extra for assembly and PDI, which I now know I shouldn't have. Lots of cross threaded bolts, broken mounts. Showed up with a gas tank that wouldn't hold fuel and a popped front tube. I've emailed their support for five times now and still have never gotten a response. They really screwed up my bill of sale and included my shipping fees and assembly fee in the sale price so I had to pay state sales tax on that when I registered it, which was just icing on the cake.

The dudes over on the hawk 250 Facebook group sent me here and said you guys are cool. So here I am, I guess I'll do some research before I buy another.

Oh, and my name is Devin.

Welcome aboard! Sorry to see you had the unpleasant experience with TXP. You won't be the first. If you would of know to come here first, we would of steered you in the right direction. Hopefully we can help you sort through the issues.

Welcome. And me too, sorry about your bad experience. You have lots to do.

Some of this sounds like manufacturing defects, rather than directly caused by TXP. The leaking fuel tank, for instance. Where is the leak? Is it a seal like at the petcock, or a bad welded seam? Note that if you fill that tank to the brim, the cap leaks. This is not good, but common defect. If that's it, just don't fill it that full. Also, the leaky front tire may have come that way (but TXP would have know about that, so it's on them).

How is the engine? You will almost certainly need to rejet the carb and set the valve clearances. We can assist there. It sounds salvageable. But lots to do!

Nice looking color scheme on the bike

I fixed it already, it was the fuel tank sending unit seal. I had to take some Plastics and the seat off to get to it but it wasn't too bad. I'm pretty mechanically inclined I just didn't want to have to deal with putting a bike together

Yep yep...step 1 of working on these bikes is remove everything that's in your way. You get used to it and it becomes second nature. It's the one part of the process I have full confidence I can complete well.

sorry to hear, but yeah, Manny is a known rip off. We can only hope they will make it right. Otherwise though, enjoy riding it!
