RPS Magician 250

Things I've had to fix in my first 20 miles: exhaust bolts missing, rear brake lever set too high so that piston is halfway into cylinder at rest, no slack in chain, valves set with no gap, gas cap broken, makes highly irritating rattling noise. Do I like the bike? Yes very much. Just sayin

Everything you have just mention should of been adjusted, tighten and lubricated before you rode the bike. This is the same pre-delivery prep that a name brand dealership would have to do before they sold you a bike. You have to think of these bikes as kit bikes that you assemble and customize to your liking.

But the good news is you paid a fraction of the cost of a name brand bike and you are enjoying it.

Quite literally, with exception to the broken gas cap, almost all of those things are just run of the mill, out of the crate, issues. Even the bolts falling out.

As Jerry said, it's all about that initial setup.

I set up my Magician and had no mechanical failures til I offroaded pretty hard. But, yeah, you want to check all that stuff anyway. I bought a brand new wr250r, I went over all that before I rode it. I just picked up a 2009 boulevard m50. Guess what, I went over that as well.
It only takes one loose bolt to severely mess up your day. Check everything weekly. Is a good idea to loctite everything as well.

On to mods. I recommend regearing it for your use, better levers, better foot pegs, better tires, better tubes, better mirrors, and hand gaurds. May as well order a clutch cable and speedometer cable because they are going to break real fast. Speedo broke at 277 miles. Clutch cable started fraying before that.
Once I did all that it was fine.
